Davies Turner opens Atherstone logistics hub

Davies Turner has added warehouse capacity in the West Midlands with a new hub in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

The multi-user hub is a fully Customs-bonded facility with 140,000 square feet of warehousing incorporating a high bay fully racked area with a top location of 15 metres and eaves height of 17 metres suitable for VNA forklift locations.

It also has 20,000 pallet locations.

The logistics centre has four 35,000 square foot mezzanine floors with conveyors, barcode readers and cameras to assist in automation.

The mezzanines are set up for sortation, rework, value added services and fulfilment activities required for e-commerce activities and online retail logistics operations.

The hub has 17 loading docks and two level access doors into the warehouse and space to park more than 30 heavy goods vehicles.

Davies Turner subsidiaries including Davies Turner Air Cargo will have access to the site.

Alan Williams, Director of Davies Turner, says, “The development marks the next step in the ongoing growth of our 3PL supply chain management business and frees up some space at our other facilities in the Midlands for general freight.”

The Atherstone is close to the M1 and M6 motorways, and rivals the size of Davies Turner’s largest logistics hub in Avonmouth near Bristol, which opened in 2017.

Davies Turner has over one million square feet of warehouse space including 3PL fulfilment facilities in Coleshill, Dartford, London Heathrow Airport, Glasgow and two near Bristol, as well as regional distribution centres and support from smaller branches.
