WFS to bring CargoKiosk to Heathrow

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) will roll out its CargoKiosk technology at London’s Heathrow Airport, simplifying processes for cargo deliveries and collections.

Drivers traditionally went to the station’s reception desk where their paperwork was checked manually before being assigned a loading bay but now it is completed electronically prior to the truck arriving.

The driver has to enter their ID and follow the touchscreen prompts to conduct the acceptance and delivery process.

When a suitable door becomes available, they receive an SMS or app notification and can move their truck to the assigned loading bay.

WFS first introduced the technology in Brussels in 2019 and went live in Amsterdam this year.

Next year, the technology will be introduced at other European airports including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Liege, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan and Frankfurt.

Similar concepts are being developed at New York John F. Kennedy and in South Africa.

John Batten, Executive Vice President EMEAA at WFS says that due to the shortage of truck drivers, saving time and improving productivity is very important.

He says: “Using CargoKiosk, we can support this by removing the need to wait at the reception counter on arrival, reducing the time required on-site to load or unload, and providing a fast, transparent and fully digital process which is more efficient and, most importantly, compliant with our security checks.”
