Boeing takes orders for 737-800BCFs

Boeing has received 12 orders for 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF), having signed deals with BBAM, Aircompany Armenia and its partner Georgian Airlines.

BBAM has ordered 9 737-800BCFs and will be the first customer to receive one converted at KF Aerospace’s conversion line in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Two conversion lines are being opened at KF Aerospace next year.

With the order for 9 737-800BCFs, BBAM has 40 on order and has conversion slots at other Boeing MRO providers including Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales in Alajuela, Costa Rica, and Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services in Shanghai, China.

John Lynch, Senior Vice President, Head of Freighter Programs at BBAM, says, “By taking conversion slots at KF Aerospace in Canada, we are delighted to leverage Boeing’s global network of conversion lines to offer our customers convenience and flexibility by being where they need us to be.”

Georgian Airlines will operate the 3 aircraft it has ordered, with the first one scheduled for delivery next year and the other 2 following in 2024.

They will be modified at Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Limited (GAMECO) and at Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd. (STAECO) in China.

Tamaz Gaiashvili, President of Georgian Airlines Group, says, “We are thrilled to bring more much-needed air cargo capacity to the region with the addition of three 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters. The 737-800BCF has the payload, range and capability to carry both e-commerce and general cargo.”
