CFL and Qantas expand UK-Australia courier connections

CFL has signed an agreement with Qantas Freight to provide import and export connections to Australia and the wider Far East market.

The deal provides connections for exporters in the UK and Australia, and builds on CFL’s strategy to create stronger ties outside of the European Union.

Last year, CFL signed a deal with Thai Airways to give UK businesses greater courier access to the Far East and extended its partnership with Etihad Airways, one of CFL’s largest carriers by volume.

The UK and Australia signed a Free Trade Agreement in 2021, which removed most of the tariffs on goods from the UK.

Matt Rye, Managing Director of CFL said: “The UK economy is built upon small businesses, and deals like this open up global markets for them. Our role is to make such access faster, more reliable, and more competitive.”

Heathrow Airport handles almost three quarters of all UK air cargo with an annual value exceeding £200 billion.

CFL is the only express courier handler at the airport.

The Australian e-commerce market is predicted to grow 10% annually between 2025 and 2029.

Rye said: “Qantas is an enormously important partner for CFL and we are delighted to renew our highly successful partnership with them.”
