DHL Express opens new Charles de Gaulle hub

DHL Express has opened its new hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, which is ten times larger than the previous site.

Construction work at the 32,000 square metres hub started in March 2020 and DHL has spent €170m on the facility, including €45m alone on the sorting system.

The hub can handle 38,000 pieces per hour, and the 720 employees will run the centre around the clock.

It is located in a 91,000 square metres space and has space to absorb growth of the next 10 years, with an option for further expansion.

Philippe Pretat, CEO of DHL Express France says: “The hub is a nerve centre for our network in France, but also in Europe. This new location comes at the right time, as e-commerce is booming. The trend was already under way, but has accelerated with the Covid-19 pandemic and looks set to continue. We are here to support this unprecedented growth.”
