DHL makes GoGreen Plus Service available for airfreight

DHL Global Forwarding has expanded its GoGreen Plus Service to the airfreight sector, helping customers decarbonise their supply chains.

The service was firstly rolled out for ocean freight and now airfreight customers can select sustainable fuel, picking and choosing which parts of their supply chain to decarbonise when booking online through the myDHLi customer platform.

The GoGreen Plus Service is based on the principle that the more customers book the service, the more alternative fuel and clean technology is used, making transport cleaner.

Through this, the appropriate amount of biofuel is purchased for the respective shipment.

DHL Global Forwarding has ordered sustainable aviation fuel through Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and United Airlines’ Eco-Skies Alliance.

With the “Book & Claim” system, DHL can pass on the benefits of lower greenhouse gas emissions to its customers.

Thomas Mack, Global Head of Air Freight at DHL Global Forwarding says: “From a technological standpoint, our GoGreen Plus Service is currently the simplest, most efficient and sustainable way to reduce CO2 emissions in transportation. As one of the world's leading logistics service providers, we see it as our responsibility to lead the way to greener transportation and to set a good example for others to follow.”
