EFW and ST Engineering deliver first A320P2F

ST Engineering and Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) have delivered the first Airbus A320P2F conversion, which will operate for the new Indian cargo airline, Pradhaan Air Express.

The A320P2F, which is owned by the aviation asset management business of ST Engineering, was handed over to Vaayu Group at ST Engineering’s airframe facility in Singapore, and it is the first of several converted freighters that will be leased to Vaayu.

It will enter service with Pradhaan Air Express, a sub-lessee of Vaayu.

Like the A321P2F, the A320P2F was developed using original OEM data from Airbus for a more robust and reliable design.

Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW, says the redelivery completes the Airbus P2F family and comes at a good time as demand for converted freighters continues to surge.

He says, “Our full suite of Airbus P2F solutions will serve to meet the current gap and future growth of the air freight market, while offering excellent choices and benefits to airlines looking to grow a diverse fleet of freighter aircraft with operating commonality.”

The A320P2F can carry up to 10 ULDs and 1 pallet position in the main deck, and 7 container positions in the lower deck.

With a gross payload of up to 21 tonnes at a maximum range of 1,850 nautical miles and a total usable containerised volume of 159m3, it has 85% stowage efficiency.

To meet strong demand for converted freighters, ST Engineering and EFW have set up new conversion sites in China and the US this year, and will increase capacity to provide over 60 slots per year by 2024.
