Liège Cargo Agency enhances its e-commerce facilities

Liège Cargo Agency (LCA) has become the first Walloon company to obtain Be-Gate authorisation.

Active in the air freight sector, LCA is now simplifying administrative procedures related to e-commerce, thanks to the new digital system developed by the FPS Finance, Customs and Excise. For Eric Bruckmann, CEO of Liège Cargo Agency, this new recognition confirms the quality of services offered to airport customers.

“We are very proud to be the first Walloon SME to receive this authorisation issued by the Belgian customs. This is an asset for our customers active in e-commerce, which generates more and more volumes at Liège airport," he said.

In concrete terms, Be-Gate covers a secure electronic connection between the e-commerce operator and customs, specifically adapted to processing large amounts of data. It also allows effective customs controls based on risk analysis. Another by-product is that of improved communication for maximum transaction speed; and all of this is actually anticipating forthcoming legislative changes. On that basis, the certification is therefore very important in the context of the development of Liège Cargo Agency as well as for activities in general at Liège airport.
