The warehouse, which will become operational on 1 July, will process imports and exports as well as provide fulfilment services.

David Taylor, who was recently promoted to the role of Global Commercial Director said: “Our import business into the US has increased significantly over the last few years, and despite recent turbulence we have seen a surge in the number of new business opportunities.”

Matthew Ware, who recently joined Mark 3 as CEO, added: “This is really just the start. We have even more ambitious growth plans, including opening a similar facility at LAX airport in Los Angeles in the next 18 months.”

He said that adding capacity and capabilities on the east and west coasts allows Mark 3 to handle more imports into the USA.

“The recent changes, combined with this extra capacity at a critical trade hub, gives us the platform for rapidly extending our service offering to a much wider audience. Further capacity expansion on the US West Coast will complete the infrastructure picture,” said Ware.

He added: “The final part of the equation will be when we upgrade our internal systems to cope with this ambitious growth plan. Then we will have the systems, processes and structures in place to support a truly global operation.”

Hussein Hassan, who was recently promoted to Global Operations Director, will be responsible for overseeing the upgrade to operational systems.

Ware has previously written for Air Logistics International about the development of express cargo and e-commerce, which can be read here and here.
