UPS opens Bengaluru airport gateway

UPS has doubled its flight rotations in India with the opening of its Bengaluru gateway at Kempegowda International Airport.

The Bengaluru hub is its second dedicated airport facility following the opening of its Delhi gateway in 2020.

The facility in Bengaluru provides in-house customs clearance and serves as a cross-border trade link for southern India.

UPS will operate five Boeing 747-8 Freighter flights a week to Bengaluru, adding to the six weekly flights to Delhi.

Opening the Bengaluru gateway follows the launch of a new logistics brand for the Indian market, MOVIN, a joint venture between UPS and InterGlobe Enterprises to serve India.

Deepak Shrivastava, UPS Managing Director for Indian Subcontinent, says, “Customers are at the core of our strategy and we’re on a mission to deliver what matters for them. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, for the first time, in financial year 2022, exports have surpassed $400 billion, demonstrating the strength of India’s supply chains and the resilience of its small businesses. We’re here to support that growth.”

Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Strategy and Development Officer at Bangalore International Airport Ltd, says, “We look forward to welcoming UPS’s 747-8 aircraft, further connecting Bengaluru to the world. Our airport is on track to become a world-class cargo hub powered by leading global logistics provider like UPS, who are meeting the exponential growth of e-commerce and boosting trade for businesses in southern India.”
