BRUcargo celebrates five years

Today marks a special day in the history of air cargo at Brussels airport as BRUcargo’s community organisation Air Cargo Belgium celebrates its fifth anniversary.

It was on the April 21 in 2016 that Air Cargo Belgium was officially launched.

This was the result of a long period of meetings, dialogues and strategy formation. Moreover, it was of the utmost importance that the founding fathers were in agreement over a common vision. The ultimate goal was one of bundling the forces at BRUcargo and the airfreight industry.

The founding fathers of Air Cargo Belgium were Brussels airport's Steven Polmans, BAFI's David Bellon, Philippe Fierens and Alain De Heldt, ACMAB's Bob Vandamme and Bas Van Gogh, Voka's Geert Keirens, Paul Hegge and Peter Van Biesbroeck. Ground handling agents were represented by CTC (Eddy Van Craen); Aviapartner (Jan De Leeuw), Swissport (Patrick Minsart) and WFS' Marc Claessen. Steven Polmans subsequently became the first Chairman of Air Cargo Belgium.
