Cargo growth during COVID under debate in GHI Webinar

Discover how the Covid-19 crisis could trigger a golden opportunity for pax-focused operators to boost revenue streams from cargo at a special GHI Webinar on August 13.

The free-to-attend Webinar will be held in partnership with JBT Aerotech and include speakers from Turkish Airlines Cargo, Menzies Aviation and global air cargo association, TIACA.

The session will identify the business growth potential surrounding a global air cargo capacity crunch.

The latest IATA figures show a 28% fall in cargo capacity compared to 2019 and insufficient airport facilities to handle goods.

The same period has also been characterised by a boom in temporary aircraft cabin conversions to carry cargo, as airlines looked to utilise passenger fleets that have largely been grounded by Covid-19.

Panel members, including Murat Yalçın Kirca, Vice President of Cargo Operations, Turkish Airlines Cargo and Robert Fordree, Executive Vice President - Cargo at Menzies Aviation, will explore what it takes to diversify from pax to cargo services.

The panel will discuss GSE and staffing strategies for seizing more cargo market share. And the session will investigate the difference between gearing up for offloading makeshift cabin conversions during the pandemic and a long-term cargo expansion plan encompassing freighters.

Fellow panellists, Celine Hourcade, Transition Director, TIACA and David Bunting, Manging Director -EMEA at JBT AeroTech, will also explore automation and innovation in air cargo.
