Eastern Airlines acquires 777s to enter cargo market

Eastern Airlines will enter the cargo market with the acquisition of 35 Boeing 777s as feedstock for Passenger to Freighter (P2F) conversions.

The Eastern 777 Express Freighter will be a fully certified cargo aircraft with a Class-E main deck capable of carrying cargo between Asia and the US, with a focus on e-commerce.

Services are due to start in Q1 2022, with Eastern Air Cargo offering general cargo sales, cargo charters, ACMI/wet-leasing and dry leasing.

The main deck will be able to hold low-density, express cargo and future plans for converted 777s include a palletised loading system and an express main deck cargo door.
