GEORGI Handling expands at Leipzig/Halle Airport

Phase 2 of construction at the Leipzig/Halle Airport Technology Park has officially opened with a celebratory event held by its investor, Greenfield Development.

GEORGI Handling will operate the facility as a bonded warehouse, which can handle all types of cargo from general cargo to hazardous cargo to refrigerated and special goods from Spring 2023.

The facility will have 15,000 square metres of hall space and 1,500 square metres of office and communal areas.

Working in partnership with DHL, GEORGI Handling plans to expand its existing business model at Frankfurt Airport, linking the 2 airports.

Diana Schöneich, CEO of GEORGI Handling, says, “The Leipzig/Halle Airport is the European cargo airport in Central Europe. Its existing first-class infrastructure and GEORGI Handling’s hall space, which has now been tripled, leads us to expect sustainable growth at this location.”

Once the buildings are completed, GEORGI Handling will lease the whole of phase 2, Halls 6 and 7.

Jürgen Georgi, Managing Partner of GEORGI Group, says, “Our investments in state-of-the-art materials handling technology and mobile technical equipment allow GEORGI Handling to offer all new and existing customers tailored services at a high international quality level.”
