Kale digitises Vancouver Airport cargo operations

Kale Info Solutions will support cargo throughput at Vancouver International Airport with the implementation of its Airport Cargo Community System (ACCS).

A proof of concept will take place before implementation, with the aim of improving efficiency, streamlining cargo flows, and addressing truck congestion, which affects many North American airports.

Vancouver, Canada’s second busiest airport, is investing in cargo operations to meet growing demands while identifying new solutions to increase efficiency with trucking and transportation, especially during peak hours.

Jason Tse, Manager, Commercial Leasing – Cargo at Vancouver International Airport, says, “Technology and digitisation are key aspects of how we will achieve success, and we look forward to working with Kale Info Solutions and applying its innovative Cargo Community System at YVR for the benefit of our partners, our community, and the economy that supports it.”

The system enables advanced shipment notifications to be sent from shippers, agents, and truckers to cargo handlers and airlines, bringing real-time updates and transparency for arrival times, and details of cargo on board.

Advanced truck slot bookings helps trucking companies and ground handlers to coordinate landside freight movements, reducing congestion and pollution by cutting waiting times.

Kale’s mobile app allows slots to be booked and adjusted automatically, in line with peaks and troughs in truck arrivals at the airport.

Amar More, President of Kale Info Solutions, says, “Our ACCS brings tremendous benefits in meeting environmental sustainability objectives with a major reduction of paperwork, carbon emissions and pollution, and creates a vibrant stakeholder digital eco-system around the airport.”
