Menzies earns CEIV Pharma at Heathrow and Budapest airports

Menzies Aviation has strengthened its pharma handling network with IATA CEIV Pharma certification at London’s Heathrow Airport and at Budapest Airport.

Earning CEIV Pharma required Menzies to undertake audits, validation and training to ensure procedures, processes, risk assessment and infrastructure was suitable for handling time and temperature sensitive pharma products.

At Heathrow, Menzies has over 230 cargo employees and the station is expecting to see a significant increase in cargo volumes through its 10,000 square metre warehouse facility, which has brand new temperature-controlled rooms built for handling pharma products.

In Budapest, a team of over 70 employees handle 35,000 tonnes per annum at the 4,100 square metre warehouse, which has a state-of-the-art cooling facility and is equipped to handling pharma products.

Robert Fordree, Executive Vice President Global Cargo Services at Menzies Aviation says: “At Menzies we pride ourselves on having the highest standards of safety and security, and these accreditations demonstrate our commitment to constantly enhancing and adapting our operations based on industry requirements. We are looking forward to putting our experience from this process into practice at Heathrow and Budapest and sharing it with our cargo teams around the world.”
