New CODEX cargo asset tracking solution

Virtual Control is to introduce CODEX, a Data-As-A-Service (DaaS) platform designed create comprehensive accountability for unit load devices and their cargo from the start of their journey to the end.

The Hong Kong-based company has already finalised the product, with pilot product testing presently underway at air cargo hubs around the world. Virtual Control will officially launch CODEX at next week’s Collision Conference, one of the world's biggest tech conferences, which will take place entirely online from April 20-22. The product is expected to officially enter the marketplace during the second quarter of 2021.

Says Company President Thomas Gerstner, "During the COVID 19 pandemic, air cargo became the lifeline for the entire airline industry. Providing new data to the entire ecosystem which allows for faster inspections of containers and making shipments safer makes a huge difference in these days.

“What’s more, our system provides evidence, identifying, for example, who within the complex supply chain didn’t handle COVID-19 vaccines according to specifications. We can now track such things … anytime … anywhere,” he says. “You can imagine that those data are of relevance and high interest for many parties including insurance companies.”

CODEX by Virtual Control is a solution suite aimed at giving global logistics companies near real-time visibility into the state of their cargo assets and the performance of their (or their 3PL’s) operations. Powered by Virtual Control’s IoT-enabled and AI-assistive remote inspection technology, supply-chain participants can access digital twins of their assets via the CODEX platform and use real-time data to make informed, proactive decisions to protect their bottom line.

By combining existing IT infrastructure with it its own AI-powered mobile app, Bluetooth and IoT data ingestion, Virtual Control provides a highly efficient, cost-effective and long-awaited solution. “In essence, Virtual Control has created an entirely new data economy because we are actively capturing and delivering information that has never been captured before,” Gerstner adds.

Virtual Control will be among the featured start-up companies showcasing their innovations at the Collision conference.
