SAMAD Aerospace has started the certification process for its electric Starling Cargo aircraft.

The remotely piloted aircraft with auto pilot capability has a cruising speed of 95mph, a flight ceiling of 10,000 feet, a range of up to 135 miles and can carry up to 50 kilos.

SAMAD says several industry sectors have taken an interest in the Starling aircraft including oil and gas companies, gemstone mining companies, medical logistics and emergency response companies.

It can also be used to deliver humanitarian cargo including food, medicine and equipment to remote regions with underdeveloped or damaged local infrastructure.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022.
