WE Deane expands operation

WE Deane has expanded its reach further into Europe by opening a new site in France.

The new 5,000 square foot office site will act as a Customs office in response to Brexit and specialise in the management of imports to and from the UK. With a depot already established in the Netherlands, WE Deane’s latest site, which will be based near the port of Calais, will take the company’s total number of sites around the globe to 11.

The freight forwarder made the strategic decision to establish a presence near Calais because of the port’s importance to cross-channel trade. Being the second largest port in Europe, Calais sees 10m passengers, 2m trucks and 44m tonnes of goods come in per year, with the majority of the incoming traffic arriving from the Port of Dover.

WE Deane’s presence in the region will ensure that its core clientele within the automotive industry are better serviced by being a local agent. With proximity to the BCP in France, they will be able to assist in all areas of cross-border trade.

Having recently opened two new sites in Birmingham, it has been a period of growth for the British freight forwarder, which is now setting its sights on expanding its logistics offering, as well as moving to a brand new depot in Liverpool in the forthcoming year.
