Amazon starts flying to Spokane

Amazon Air has expanded services in Washington state with its first flight to Spokane International Airport.

The Boeing 737 flight, operated by Sun Country Airlines in Amazon Air colours, flew from Fairbanks International Airport, landing in Spokane at 2am on Thursday 14 October.

Services will operate daily and the gateway will be managed by Trego-Dugan Aviation, with the site creating more than 50 new jobs.

Ezra Eckhardt, Board Chair of Spokane Airport says: “This new location will expand Amazon’s presence, not only in Spokane, but in some of the most rural areas in the region. Throughout the last year especially, they’ve focused on getting necessary items to customers quickly and efficiently and we’re honoured to be a part of those efforts here in our backyard.”

Amazon opened a second fulfilment centre in the Spokane area last month and plans to open a delivery station and a sortation centre next to the fulfilment centre in Airway Heights in 2022.
