Emirates SkyCargo takes delivery of new B777F

Emirates SkyCargo has taken delivery of its latest Boeing 777 Freighter as plans to expand its fleet get underway.

With the arrival of A6-EFU, the fleet remains at 11 777Fs, as A6-EFG went back to its lessor.

The airline plans to convert 10 777 passenger aircraft into freighters, boosting capacity to 21 777Fs by the end of 2026.

In 2021-22, tonnage increased 15% to 2.1 million tonnes, including 260,000 tonnes of perishables, and both pharma and valuables grew 17% each.

Nabil Sultan, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, says, “The new freighter will help increase our capacity and boost our ability to deliver vital goods, and facilitate trade globally. Despite the challenging headwinds this year, the air cargo industry is booming and we’ve been flat out since the pandemic began.”

Demand is increasing in most markets, including China, where Emirates SkyCargo is adding four freighter flights a week.

From this week, Shanghai is being served with six direct flights, Beijing with two and four in Guangzhou, adding more than 400 tonnes of capacity in and out of China.

Direct services are planned for Hanoi and Sydney, as are additional frequencies to Nairobi as part of a multi-stop route from DWC to Eldoret International Airport.

The plan is to go to Nairobi before heading up to Maastricht in the Netherlands, then down to Zaragoza, Spain, before heading back to Dubai.
