Etihad Cargo renews IATA CEIV Pharma certificate

Etihad Cargo has been awarded CEIV Pharma recertification following an audit of its systems, processes and procedures, and its hub infrastructure and equipment.

The airline was first certified in 2019 in conjunction with its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Etihad Airport Services Cargo.

It has since become the first airline in the Middle East and the third globally to also hold CEIV Fresh and CEIV Live Animals certificates.

Independent auditors assessed Etihad Cargo’s capacity to control and enhance its processes through a checklist focusing on its Quality Management System.

Etihad Cargo and its PharmaLife product were demonstrated to be fully compliant with specific pharmaceutical regulations including IATA Temperature Control Regulations and Good Distribution Practices.

Martin Drew, Senior Vice President – Global Sales and Cargo at Etihad Aviation Group, says, “The benefits of CEIV Pharma certification extend to Etihad Cargo's customers, who can be assured the carrier's dedicated pharma cargo management constantly monitor and analyse the quality and safety of Etihad Cargo's PharmaLife product performance.”

Since achieving IATA CEIV Pharma certification in 2019, Etihad Cargo has invested heavily in its PharmaLife product and launched dedicated thermal covers for PharmaLife products across its top pharma origin stations.

Etihad Cargo will open a 3,000 square-metre pharma facility at its Abu Dhabi hub, doubling its cool chain capacity to carry and accommodate an additional 50,000 tonnes of cool chain commodities including pharmaceuticals and life science products.
