Sustainability
The fully electric Alice aircraft from Eviation Aircraft has completed its maiden flight, flying for 8 minutes and reaching an altitude of 3,500 feet.

It took off from Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Washington, at 16.10h yesterday (Tuesday 27 September).

DHL Express has ordered 12 Alices, which can be flown by a single pilot and carry 1.2 tonnes of cargo, with deliveries scheduled to start in 2024.

It will require 30 minutes or less to charge per flight hour and have a range of up to 440 nautical miles.

Congratulating Eviation on the first flight, John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, says, “With our order of 12 Alice e-cargo planes, we are investing towards our overall goal of net-zero emissions logistics. Alice’s range and capacity makes it a unique sustainable solution for our global aviation network, supporting our aspiration to make a substantial contribution in reducing our carbon footprint and ultimately, achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.”
