CMA CGM orders four Airbus A350 Freighters

CMA CGM has ordered four Airbus A350 Freighters, to be operated by its newly launched air cargo company, CMA CGM Air Cargo.

The memorandum of understanding will be finalised in the coming weeks, and will bring CMA CGM’s Airbus fleet to nine, joining its five A330-200Fs.

This is the second order for A350Fs, with Air Lease Corporation ordering seven at the Dubai Airshow.

Over 70% of the airframe is made of advanced materials, reducing take-off weight and generating at least 20% lower fuel burn over the competition, says Airbus.

Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International says: “The A350F will fit seamlessly into the carrier’s existing fleet of Airbus freighters. Thanks to its composite airframe and latest technology engines, it will bring unbeatable efficiency in terms of fuel burn, economics and CO2 emissions, empowering the long-term sustainable growth of the group.”
