Drone Delivery Canada makes hospital deliveries

Drone Delivery Canada has signed deals with DSV Air & Sea and Halton Healthcare Services to provide transport links for Oakville Hospital.

The project is scheduled to start in Q3 this year and last 6 months flying between Milton, Ontario, home of DSV Canada’s head office, and the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in Oakville.

It will rely on DSV’s DroneSpot take-off and landing infrastructure and additional infrastructure being set up at the hospital.

The initiative was developed in collaboration with McMaster University, which will gain knowledge with the intention of integrating drones into the nuclear isotope supply chain.

Martin Roos, Managing Director of DSV Air & Sea Canada, says, “With the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen the need for urgent healthcare transportation to be innovated further. With new needs come new solutions. We are excited to take this next step in drone logistics by partnering as the hub for deliveries to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.”

Steve Magirias, CEO of Drone Delivery Canada, adds, “This project is a great fit to demonstrate a new efficient way to transport medical goods from DSV Milton to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. It will also allow us to explore additional connecting air routes, through DSV, in the future.”
