Jettainer’s skypooling platform allows airline controllers to share ULDs, avoiding deadhead flights and reducing fuel use and CO2 emissions, but Jettainer says approaching ULDs as a resource has potential to make aviation more sustainable.
Removing one empty AKE container from an intercontinental flight can save 65 kilos of CO2, and up to three tonnes for a stack of pallets.
The ULD sharing platform has an automatic matching function to solve understock and overstock issues, and is used by more than 50 airlines at more than 250 stations.
It can save about 25,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, and the lost and found service puts unused ULDs back into circulation to make resources available.
