Aeromexico awarded CEIV Pharma certification

Aeromexico has been awarded Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certification by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

To obtain certification, Aeromexico completed a documentary and on-site audit of its aircraft, warehouses, and tarmac, among other aspects, to verify compliance with requirements defined by IATA and the pharma industry.

The certificate guarantees that processes, infrastructure, equipment, operations, and personnel comply with the highest standards to handle pharmaceuticals.

Aeromexico will increase connectivity for shipping pharmaceuticals, focusing on 10 international hubs in South Korea, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, France, United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia.

Alejandro Mendez Gonzalez, Senior Vice President of Aeromexico Cargo says: “This pandemic brought us many lessons learned, and I can proudly say that the infrastructure and talent of Mexico's global airline, allowed us to promptly respond to the demand in the transportation of vaccines and medical supplies, not only in Mexico, but for us, in new destinations in more than 15 countries on three continents.”

Since the start of the pandemic, Aeromexico has operated nearly 400 charter flights to 15 countries, shipping almost 7,000 tonnes of medical supplies and more than 80 tonnes of the active substance to produce Covid-19 vaccines.
