AFKLMP Cargo makes SAF purchases easier with goSAF

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo has introduced goSAF, letting customers set the level of their contribution of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with every cargo shipment booked.

Customers using the myCargo booking portal are given the choice of 4 contribution levels, allowing them to proportionally reduce CO2 emissions when booking.

The CO2 emissions calculator determines the expected CO2 emissions of the shipment and the cost of compensating for this by investing in SAF.

GertJan Roelands, Senior Vice President Sales and Distribution at AFKLMP Cargo, says that when customers contribute to SAF, not only do they reduce CO2 emissions of their own shipments, they make supply chains more sustainable.

He says, “By working together and gradually increasing the percentage of SAF used to power every flight, we can really make a difference in achieving a more sustainable airfreight industry.”

AFKLMP Cargo launched its SAF programme in 2020, enabling forwarders and shippers to fuel their flights with a percentage of SAF.

In 2022, AFKLMP Cargo started adding a standard percentage of 0.5-1% of SAF to all flights departing from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

All investments will be used to purchase more SAF with AFKLMP Cargo not profiting financially from the purchases.
