All Nippon Airways orders Boeing 777-8 Freighters

All Nippon Airways has ordered 2 Boeing 777-8 Freighters, finalising a large order to upgrade its fleet.

The Japanese airline had ordered 20 777-9s in March 2014, but at a Board of Directors meeting yesterday (Monday 11 July), it was agreed to convert 2 of the 777-9s to 777-8Fs.

The 777-8F was formally launched in January this year, and ANA is expecting to receive its aircraft in 2028.

ANA Group has also finalised an agreement for 20 737-8s, with the option for another 10, with 737-8s due to start operating in 2025.

The 737-8 did not operate for more than 18 months following 2 fatal crashes before the US Federal Aviation Administration approved its return to service in November 2020.
