The airline now offers mail service, including correspondence, parcels and express mail, to and from the capital city, with one daily fight from Charlotte Douglas International airport and four daily flights from Miami International airport, scheduled to increase to five daily flights in October. “As the leading US carrier to Cuba we are excited to launch cargo service to the island,” said David Vance, American's Vice President – Cargo Operations. “Our teams on the ground in the US and in Cuba have worked hard to make this a reality.”
American has served Cuba with charter services for more than 25 years and with scheduled services since September 2016. It flies nine daily flights to five destinations in the country, including flights between Miami and Havana, Holguin, Santa Clara, Varadero and Camagüey, and between Charlotte Douglas and Havana.
The addition of mail service will strengthen American’s commitment to meeting the needs of customers in the US-Cuba market.
