Astral Aviation and Airlink sign relief shipment partnership

Astral Aviation has signed a partnership with disaster response non-profit organisation Airlink to transport humanitarian aid.

Airlink will utilise cargo space across Astral Aviation’s network to move humanitarian aid, which is already being used to transport medicines and medical supplies to South Sudan.

The supplies were donated by Partners for World Health to IMA World Health and will be distributed in flood-affected regions in the Great Upper Nile region and health facilities along the border with Uganda.

Signing the partnership, Astral Aviation has agreed to transport over 50 tons of aid over the next year.

Astral Aviation’s network connects East Africa to the Middle East, Asia and Europe via hubs in Nairobi, Johannesburg and Dubai, which will support Airlink’s humanitarian relief efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation, says, “As Astral Aviation we see the partnership with Airlink as an important opportunity to support some of the humanitarian efforts in the sub-Saharan region so as to help alleviate the suffering on some of the war-ravaged and disaster stricken population.”

Steven J. Smith, President and CEO of Airlink, adds, “Airline commitments like the one Astral Aviation is allowing Airlink and our non-profit partners to react to immediate needs. It also enables us to support communities with long-term recovery and systemic issues, such as in healthcare.”
