Atlas Air takes delivery of Boeing 747-8 Freighter

Atlas Air has taken delivery of a new Boeing 747-8 Freighter, one of the last which will be produced.

It is the second of 4 that was ordered last year, and the new arrival has already been placed in a long-term agreement with an existing customer.

John Dietrich, President and CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide, says, “We are pleased to receive this additional 747-8F, and to add more capacity and value to our customers. Atlas’ investment in these new aircraft underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship through the reduction of aircraft emissions, resource consumption and noise.”

The 747-8Fs Atlas Air has ordered are the last of the iconic aircraft to be produced, which has a 20% higher payload capacity and 16% lower fuel consumption than the 747-400F.
