ATSG to convert four more 767s into freighters

Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) will expand its fleet by converting four 767-300s into Boeing Converted Freighters.

The aircraft are owned by ATSG subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) and is its second conversion order in recent months, having ordered four in November last year.

Work is scheduled to start in late 2023 and ATSG has the option for four more conversions.

Mike Berger, Chief Commercial Officer of ATSG says 767-300s are in demand due to the growth of e-commerce and express cargo.

He says: “As the world leader in midsize freighter leasing, ATSG is committed to fulfilling our 360-degree brand promise to provide wide-spectrum support for our customers around the globe as they continue to grow market share and expand their reach.”

Jens Steinhagen, Director of the Boeing Converted Freighter programme says: “The 767-300BCF is in strong demand, and we are adding three additional 767-300BCF conversion lines at new and existing MRO suppliers around the globe to help customers like ATSG provide their customers with the dedicated freighter capacity they need.”

In addition to the 767-300s, CAM has inducted its first Airbus A321-200PCF for conversion with PEMCO Conversions, a division owned by ATSG subsidiary, Pemco World Air Services.

The A321 will be converted in Tampa, Florida and will receive the conversion developed by 321 Precision Conversions, a joint-venture between ATSG and Precision Aircraft Solutions.

CAM’s first A321 will go to Malaysia-based Raya Airways.
