The aircraft are being operated in partnership with Qantas and will operate between the east coast, Perth, Tasmania and Cairns.
They will carry around 21,000 parcels each night for Australia Post’s services including Express Post, Parcel Post and StarTrack premium.
The A321Fs replace old Boeing 737s, which took their final flights in August.
The new aircraft produce 34% less carbon emissions per kilogram of cargo and carry over 70% more parcels than B737-300Fs.
Australia Post’s latest quarterly Inside Australian Online Shopping Report predicts there will be a 142% jump in sales across the Black Friday period, and that athleisure, fashion accessories, sporting & outdoor and women’s fashion will all grow by more than 100%.
Mark Davies, General Manager Premium Services and International at Australia Post, says, “Last year, we delivered almost 100 million parcels in the lead up to Christmas, and we expect similar volumes this year especially as demand surges during upcoming key sales events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.”
