NordicGSA, an ECS Group company, will be responsible for Bluebird’s Monday to Friday flights from Billund, Denmark, to Keflavik, Iceland, and back, with import distribution to northern Germany.
The main commodities handled on the flights are fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, clothing, electrical items and general freight.
Bluebird Nordic, an Avia Solutions Group company, operates nine Boeing 737Fs and has signed leases for three Boeing 777-300ERs, which are undergoing passenger-to-freighter conversions and expected to be operational in 2024.
Thomas Frederiksen, Managing Director – Denmark at NordicGSA says: “We have a good, long-standing professional relationship with Bluebird Nordic here in Denmark, having worked together on projects in the past, so I am delighted that Magnus Magnusson and I were now able to conclude a formal GSSA agreement.”
Magnus Magnusson, Business Development Director at Bluebird Nordic adds: “There is a great deal of interest from the freight forwarders in Iceland in this new lane, as it opens up new opportunities for imports from the Nordic countries that have until now only been served by passenger aircraft.”
