Bolloré launches charter flights for Hainan retail market

Bolloré Logistics has launched a charter flight from Singapore to Haikou for the travel retail market in Hainan province.

The weekly charter flights travel via Hong Kong, transporting perfumes and cosmetics and luxury retail brands to support offshore duty-free shopping in Haikou, which has seen spending skyrocket and is home to the world's largest duty-free shop.

The services offer end-to-end monitoring for both Dangerous Goods and Non-Dangerous Goods and are coupled with warehousing services and value-added services in Bolloré’s 3 hubs.

Sun Bo, Vice Mayor of Haikou City, says, “This February, we discussed the constructive cooperation plan in Haikou with the Bolloré Logistics team. The launch of the new air charter service, together with the distribution hub that Bolloré Logistics will build in Haikou, will support Haikou’s strategic development plan to be an international travel retail centre.”

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) primarily made from used cooking oil and waste products will reduce CO2 emissions on the flights.

Loig Pavard, CEO of Bolloré Logistics Singapore, says, “Many of our customers share similar goals when it comes to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in their supply chain. Using SAF in this charter is therefore in accordance with our group’s programme ‘Powering Sustainable Logistics’ and showcases our capability to set up and expand our services for clients.”

The services follow Bolloré signing an agreement with Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development and Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee, which was signed on 20 March.
