Cargojet makes strategic investment in 21Air

Cargojet has acquired a 25% interest in 21Air as part of the Canadian airline’s international growth strategy.

Greensboro, North Carolina headquartered 21Air has a fleet of five Boeing 767 freighters and provides charter, ACMI and CMI services to companies including Cargojet.

Jim Crane, chairman of 21Air says: “We are honoured to have Cargojet as our partners and look forward to growing 21Air into a major player in the international cargo space.”

Earlier this year Cargojet announced that its fleet would grow with five more B767s with the first one due to arrive in the third quarter, followed by one more each following quarter.

Two Boeing 777 freighters will arrive in 2023, with the option for two more in 2024 to operate long haul Asian routes.

In April, Cargojet expanded its relationship with Amazon Canada Fulfillment Services to operate two Amazon-owned B767-300BDSFs as part of the Amazon Air network within Canada on a CMI basis.
