CFL and Etihad renew Heathrow partnership

CFL, the only on-site express courier handler at Heathrow Airport, has signed a three-year contract extension with Etihad Airways.

The partnership started in January 2021 and since then CFL has invested in technology to improve messaging and data exchange with its airline partners.

The contract extension took effect on 1 September.

The deal builds on CFL’s longer-term strategy to create stronger ties outside the European Union and follows a deal with Thai Airways, which gives UK businesses more courier access to the Far East.

Matthew Ware, CEO of EFL, says, “For overseas businesses, relying on British components or finished goods, speed and reliability are critical. Deals like this create a network that UK businesses can exploit, giving them wider choice and greater certainty over service consistency.”

Etihad Airways is based in Abu Dhabi, providing connections to India and the Far East.

EFL says Indian express import volumes have grown 30% year-on-year and is becoming one of the most important import markets for the UK.
