Challenge Group accepts Operation Fly Formula flight

Challenge Group has transported 68 tonnes of baby formula on one flight to assist the US government mission, Operation Fly Formula.

The Boeing 747 flight from Germany touched down at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport at 06.50 on Sunday 26 June carrying over 10,000 boxes built on 98 pallets.

The shipment was offloaded and made its way to Nestle’s distribution centre in Fort Worth, and from there, they were sent to supermarket chains including Walmart and Target.

Or Zak, Vice President Commercial of Challenge Group, says, “The beauty of air cargo is the variety of missions we are able to be involved in, and this is a particularly rewarding one.

“It is the first time in Challenge Group’s history, that we have transported 98 pallets consisting purely of baby formula. And it is wonderful to know that, thanks to Challenge Airline’s role in Operation Fly Formula, today, one-and-a-half million babies will soon be able to enjoy another feed.”

Several US states are suffering shortages of baby formula so the US Government launched Operation Fly Formula to import supplies.

In the last month, airlines have operated 32 flights bringing in more than 90 million bottles of baby formula to relieve the shortage.
