
The Taiwanese airline has ordered four freighters and ten passenger aircraft with the option for four more freighters and five passenger aircraft.
The 777X has interoperability with other twin-engine Boeing aircraft will help China Airlines to renew its fleet with the 777-8Fs, which offer B747-sized payload capability with 30% improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions and reducing its noise footprint by up to 60%.
Kao Shing-Hwang, Chairman of China Airlines said: “The advanced technology and features of the 777-9 will provide our customers with the best-in-class flying experience, while the 777-8 Freighter's range and fuel-efficiency will enable us to maintain a leadership position in air cargo. This is a significant investment toward our future, and we will rely on the new 777X family to help realise our long-term sustainability goals.”
Dan Schull, Vice President of Commercial Sales, Northeast Asia at Boeing added: “Operating the 777-9 and 777-8 Freighter will allow China Airlines to add capacity and position the airline for further growth going forward.”
