Deutsche Post DHL Group changes name to DHL Group

Deutsche Post DHL Group will change its name to DHL Group to reflect the strength of the DHL brand, which represents 90% of Group revenue.

The name will be changed on 1 July with the divisions continuing to operate under their current names except the DHL eCommerce Solutions division, which will use the name of DHL eCommerce instead of DHL Parcel in some countries.

The Group parent company will remain Deutsche Post AG and changing the name will have no effect on the name or nature of its legal entities.

Its stock ticker will change from DPW to DHL to represent its global portfolio better in the financial markets.

Internally and externally, the new name will be used from 1 July with the rebranding of physical assets happening over time to avoid additional cost.

Tobias Meyer, Group CEO, says the trends of globalisation, e-commerce, digitalisation and sustainability over the past decade have had a positive effect on business, opening up new opportunities.

He says, “Today, we are one of the most international companies in the world. The name DHL Group and the use of the DHL logo for the Group follows on from the development of our company's business, which outside of Germany almost only ever uses the DHL brand. Meanwhile, within Germany, the DHL brand continues to gain in importance.”

The Deutsche Post and DHL brands will continue to be used in Germany, with Meyer commenting, “We are very proud of Deutsche Post's tradition, its rich heritage and history that stretches back to the 15th century. We will continue to use and cherish the Deutsche Post brand in joint branding with DHL, and remain 'The Post for Germany’.”
