DHL Express and Shell provide SAF at Brussels Airport

DHL Express and Shell have signed a one-year deal to make sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) available at Brussels Airport.

Under the deal, 25kt of SAF will be delivered to Brussels Airport via a pipeline and offered to DHL Express customers through DHL GoGreen Plus.

The SAF is certified to the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) voluntary ISCC Plus certification system and is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80kt CO2e versus fossil fuel.

Travis Cobb, EVP Global Network Operations and Aviation at DHL Express, says, “Beside efficiency improvements, SAF is currently the most important way to reduce GHG emissions in air transport. Customers can actively contribute to making their supply chains more sustainable by using our GoGreen Plus service based on SAF.”

Raman Ojha, President of Shell Aviation, adds, “Working together not only complements their efforts but also helps advance our shared ambitions for a net-zero future. By supplying SAF, we are equipping the industry – and our customers – with low carbon solutions that will support the transition toward sustainable aviation.”
