DHL Express and Singapore Airlines receive first B777F

DHL Express has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777 Freighter that it will operate in partnership with Singapore Airlines.

The B777F, which sports a dual livery, has a capacity of 102 tonnes, and will operate 3 flights a week from Singapore Changi Airport to the US via South Korea.

In March, the 2 companies signed a Crew and Maintenance agreement for 5 B777Fs where Singapore Airlines provides the pilots and oversees maintenance.

Robert Hyslop, Executive Vice President for Aviation at DHL Express, says, “Singapore Airlines’ expertise in flight operations will enable us to better meet our customers’ needs in cross-border commerce, as we leverage the strategic location of our South Asia Hub in Singapore.”

Christy Reese, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Asia Pacific at Boeing, says that the B777F can fly more than 6,000 nautical miles with 20% more payload than other large freighters.

She says, “The airplane, which is capable of carrying a maximum payload of 102 tonnes, will deliver superior tonne-per-mile economics for DHL and Singapore Airlines as they look to sustainably address increased demand in the global air freight market.”

A second B777F is scheduled to start operating in November 2022, joining the first one serving the Singapore-Incheon-Los Angeles-Honolulu-Singapore route.

The other 3 are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and will operate on routes between the US and Singapore via points in North Asia and Australia.
