DHL Express makes SAF available through GoGreen Plus

DHL Express has launched GoGreen Plus, giving customers the opportunity to reduce the carbon emissions associated with their shipments by purchasing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The service will be launched in the UK with Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Australia, South Africa and the UAE following.

Customers in these countries will have the option of selecting GoGreen Plus when choosing their shipping service through the MyDHL+ shipping and booking platform, and the service can be used for individual shipments.

Selecting GoGreen Plus will help customers cut their Scope 3 emissions, the indirect greenhouse gas emissions occurring in a company’s value chain.

Insetting with GoGreen Plus reduces emissions within the logistics sector and DHL customers can use it to report their own emissions.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, says, “We know our customers are committed to reducing their environmental impact so it's important we're giving them the means to do so. I'm delighted that our investment in SAF can now be fully leveraged by customers to enable them to bring down the emissions of their shipments. SAF is currently the primary route to reducing carbon emissions in aviation, so this is the most effective way to help our customers make their own supply chains more sustainable.”

The GoGreen Plus service was made possible by DHL’s collaboration with bp and Neste to supply SAF to DHL Express.

The fuel is produced from waste oils, which reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuel.
