Europe Express Airports
DHL Express Finland is investing €100 million in a logistics centre at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.

The logistics centre, which is scheduled to completed in the second half of 2025, will measure 16,000 square metres, double the existing facility and its automated sorting system will be able to handle 6,500 items per hour.

There will be 90 direct loading bays to efficiently sort shipments directly from the conveyor to delivery vans and all bays will be equipped with charging stations for e-vehicles as DHL Express looks to electrify its pick-up and delivery fleet.

The logistics centre, which will handle all incoming and outgoing express shipments in Finland, will employ 150 people and that number is expected to grow.

DHL Express Finland’s head office will be located in separate office premises.

Oktay Nuri, Managing Director of DHL Express Finland, says, “Over the years, we have systematically invested in and strengthened our operations in Finland. With this project, we will significantly increase our processing capacity, ensuring potential for future growth. The new state-of-the-art gateway facility will enhance our ability to continue to create reliable and fast transport services that support the competitiveness of Finnish export and import companies.”

The Helsinki gateway will be carbon neutral, using geothermal heat for heating and photovoltaic systems for electricity.

An advanced building management system, energy-efficient building materials and processing equipment, and LED lighting will make operations sustainable.

The gateway will be built by AVIA Real Estate and Meijou is the main contractor.
