DJI launches FlyCart 30 cargo drone

DJI has launched the FlyCart 30 (FC30), a delivery drone designed for mountain, offshore and emergency rescue transportation.

The FC30 has a coaxial four-axis, eight-blade, multi-rotor configuration with carbon fibre propellers and a top speed of 20 metres per second.

In dual-battery configuration, it can carry a 30kg payload 16km and in emergency single-battery configuration the payload is 40kg for a distance of 8km.

Pilots in different locations can transfer control of the drone with a single click using Dual Operator mode.

The FC30 can operate in temperatures from -20 – 45C and fly in winds up to 12 metres per second, and its self-heating batteries are designed to maintain optimal performance in all temperatures.

Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI, says, “We are optimistic that FlyCart 30 will become a trusted solution for aerial delivery, solving complex terrain and terminal transportation problems efficiently, economically, and most importantly, safely from the air.”

The FC30 has intelligent safety features including evaluating flight route viability before take-off and ensuring pre-take-off safety through audio-visual prompts and by delaying propeller launch.

During flight, the dual active phased array radar and binocular vision systems senses obstacles, the ADS-B signal receiver gives warning of nearby crewed aircraft and an integrated parachute can be deployed at low altitudes to land the drone.

In Cargo mode, payloads are placed in a 70-litre case with weight and centre-of-gravity sensors and in Winch mode, payloads are carried by a winch crane for delivery to areas without convenient landing sites.

DJI DeliveryHub provides operation planning, status monitoring, centralised team resource management, data collection and analysis, and it supports live viewing through the high-resolution FPV gimbal camera.

Manual flight is available through DJI Pilot 2, which displays real-time flight status and cargo status, and in extreme weather conditions it alerts operators of risks and supports alternate landing site management.
