The drones are being used at Dubai International and Dubai World Central airports with dnata saying they reduce processing times by 20% on the rack inventories and shipment tracking accuracy is over 99%.
They have been integrated into the day-to-day workflow and warehouse inventory processes, monitoring on average 1,800 shipments a day across 2,400 rack locations.
Gather AI provided the software for the drones to map the environment, collect inventory data, count cases, measure temperature and read barcodes using their cameras without the need for additional active infrastructure.
The drones are paired to a tablet providing live inventory data with the collected data available for viewing on the tablet or the web dashboard.
Using the drones has also cut dnata’s carbon footprint and improved safety by reducing the need for mobile elevating work platforms and man lifts in the warehouse.
dnata plans to introduce drones at more stations in the coming years.
