EFW A321P2F receives STC from Brazilian aviation authority

Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has received validation of its Supplementary Type Certification (V-STC) for its Airbus A321 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) programme from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

The V-STC from the ANAC means EFW’s conversion programmes are validated by major aviation authorities across all continents, allowing EFW to offer aircraft conversions, registrations and operations across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The validation was achieved alongside EFW delivering an A321P2F to AerCap, which is being leased to Azul Cargo.

It is the first A321P2F in South America and Azul Cargo will receive another one by the end of the year.

Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW, says, “With the validated STC for our A321P2F program obtained from the Brazilian aviation authority, we look forward to introducing this freighter conversion solution to the wider South American market.

“The validated STC, together with our first-ever A321P2F to be operated in South America by Azul Cargo, mark a major milestone that augments the global presence of our Airbus converted freighters.”

Izabel Reis, Director of Azul Cargo Express, adds, “These are modern aircraft, with more space, reliability, and the autonomy for international flights. With the two freighters, we will promote a logistical transformation in the country and we are ready to deliver even more agility to Brazilians.”

The A321P2F is the first aircraft in its size category to offer containerised loading in both the main deck, where it has up to 14 container positions, and the lower deck where it has up to 10 container positions.

Its weight distribution means EFW’s A321P2F can take random loading or empty flights without additional ballast, and has a payload-range capability of more than 28 tons.
