Embraer E-Freighter certified by FAA

Freighter Conversions
The Embraer E-Freighter has been fully certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA’s certification of the Embraer E190F passenger-to-freighter conversion and the cargo loading system developed by US Cargo Systems follows certification from the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) in July.

Certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is due later this year.

Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation, says, “We are excited to enter this market, filling a gap that has evolved in the market to meet the growing demand globally for faster deliveries, not just to metro areas, but to all regions. With our E-Jet footprint across the US and worldwide, we are offering optimum cargo solutions to our customers for this connected world.”

The E190F programme was launched in May 2022 and made its debut flight in April 2024 before its first public appearance at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2024.

Embraer says the E-Jet converted freighters have over 40% more volume capacity and three times the range of cargo turboprops, and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbody aircraft.

The E190F has a maximum structural payload of 13.5 tonnes when combining main deck and under the floor capacity.
