Ethiopian develops air-sea links with Djibouti

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a strategic partnership agreement to develop Djibouti into a sea-air transport hub.

The deal was signed with International Djibouti Industrial Park Operation (IDIPO) and Air Djibouti to transport cargo by sea from China to Djibouti Free Zone then transport it by air from Djibouti International Airport.

Cargo will use Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive network for onward movement across Africa.

Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group says: “This new multi-modal logistics solution will enable African businesses, multinational companies, Chinese companies and other businesspeople to enhance their supply chain management system with the best combination of speed, cost and quality services.”

He adds: “Ethiopian Airlines Group has a lot of experience in providing a similar product through Dubai sea and air ports. We are committed to help customers deliver their goods safely and efficiently across our network in association with our partners - International Djibouti Industrial Park Operation and Air Djibouti.”
